  • Poetry Slam 2023

Mon 27 Mar 2023 Miss Chapman

The Lee Chapel Theatre was the host venue for our annual, Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) Poetry Slam event. As last year’s theme worked exceptionally well in giving children freedom of voice, the theme of ‘My Voice – Let Me Be Heard’ was chosen again. Children were inspired by a multitude of current world issues, such as: climate change; deforestation; equal rights and the injustice of war, to name a few. We were lucky enough to welcome a best-selling author, Laura Ellen Anderson (author of the Amelia Fang books), and artist, Ingrid Anderson, to the judging panel. The standard of the children’s poems and performances was exceptional; therefore, the judges had a difficult time deciding on the ‘Best Poem’ and ‘Best Performance’ for each year group. Poppy and Hettie from Year 3, and Nkiere and Freya from Year 4, represented our school extremely well and we are so proud of all of their efforts. To see their performances, please check the videos and pictures section of the school website. It was such an amazing afternoon and it was extremely rewarding to see the children from the schools across the MAT come together for this very special event. We are looking forward to Poetry Slam 2024!

  • Walk of Fame

We are especially proud of our children this week because we participated in a "walk of fame" throughout the month of February and came in the top ten of all of Essex schools! We have been sent a certificate to acknowledge our achievements as a school. Well done everyone!
