Reading and Phonics Support

In EYFS and KS1 we follow 'Read, Write Inc' as our phonics scheme. The children will bring home 'Phonics Bug Club' books and 'Oxford Reading Tree' texts. 

In KS2, the children follow the 'Oxford Reading Tree' scheme.

Times Table Rockstars

As a school, we subscribe to ‘Times Tables Rockstars’. This is an interactive website and app that is designed to encourage children to practise their times tables, as well as, support their learning.

Your child has their own username and password for this.

In order to access ‘Times Tables Rockstars’ please: · Go to https://ttrockstars.com/.

· Select ‘Login’.

· Type ‘The Phoenix Primary School’ as the organisation.

· Input your child’s login details.

Alternatively, you can download the ‘Times Tables Rockstars’ app for free.

Your child will receive points for correct answers, which allows them to customise their own rockstar avatar. Your child’s teacher will be able to see which times tables they need more support with, as well as, their scores and average speed. Children who show outstanding effort, will be celebrated weekly by their Maths teacher.

It is important that your child is encouraged to play the games frequently in order to improve their times tables knowledge and support their learning in school.
