Reception Blog ~ Friday 19th July 2024

This week we have been focussing on our transition into year one and had lots of opportunities to talk to our new teachers, meet with the children coming up to reception next year and pass on our expertise to them!

Final Assessments

This week we have completed our final phonics (RWI) and maths assessments for the year and have really impressed our teachers with all of our knowledge, understanding and development this half term! Many of us have shown that we are certainly ready to be in year one!

Park trips

We have had the best time visiting the park this week! We participated in bug hunts, colour safaris and even got to play on the big hill! We were all very well-behaved on our trips and the adults who were in charge of us were very impressed with our behaviour, our listening skills and our road safety knowledge when we were walking on the street! Some of you might have been able to take your colour safaris home with you too! I wonder if you could go back to the park and show your adults your favourite part!

Pupil Voice

Sonny  – “This is the best day of my school life! Even better than zoo lab!”

Layton  – “I love all of my friends and I’m proud of them too! I really am!”

Lotanna -  “I get to go on the bouncy castles because we’re always at school aren’t I?”

Homework

Although there is no formal homework this week, please be mindful that over the summer holidays it would be incredibly beneficial for your children to have lots of writing and mathematics practise opportunities so that they don’t forget vital information or witness any skills regression over the summer. We would love your children to be as ready for year one as possible so please keep up the hard work at home! 😊

PE

If PE kits are not home already, we will be sending them home today with lots of other things too!

Messages:

  • Please bring in a bag for life next week so that the children have a sturdy bag to hold all of their belongings, work and crafts as we will be sending those home on Tuesday!
  • Have a lovely weekend and as this is our very last Friday blog of the year, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support this year in helling your children to achieve, supporting the school by coming to school events and raising funds for meaningful causes and projects throughout the year. We are so grateful for your help and the children have made amazing progress because of your brilliant partnership with the school. We hope that you have a happy, safe and wonderful break from school and cannot wait to see the children when they return to be in Year One next year!
