Polite Reminders

We are going to be having P.E every Monday.

At the moment, we will only be removing jumpers/cardigans, and socks and shoes. Your child does not need a P.E kit. On P.E day, please remove your child's earrings and tie their hair back.

When children begin to bring home reading books, these will be changed every Tuesday.  Please write in your child’s reading record each time they read at home. If you read with your child five times, please write in their record each time. This will earn them ticks on their reading card, which will eventually lead to certificates and prizes. All information on this is will be in the front of your child’s reading record book. Please ensure you child has their book bag EVERYDAY and please ensure no water bottles or snacks are put into the bags as we don’t want our precious books getting wet and ruined.

Once again, we thank you for your continued support.

Reception Blog ~ Friday 17th March 2023

This week we have continued looking at – ‘When I was little like you.’

The story is a nostalgic journey of a little girl and her Grandmother telling her how things were different when she was small. They look at how trains, boats and ice-creams vans have all changed over time.

Read, Write, Inc.

This week in phonics we have continued to assess the children. They are all doing an amazing job!

Here is a link to demonstrate how we say the sounds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkXcabDUg7Q

Lots of us are now blending sounds into words. You can find out more information about this here:

‘Jolly Phonics’ has some great songs that children can learn at home to support their phonics development:

Maths

This week in Maths we have been looking at and exploring number bonds to 10 (two numbers that add to total 10). We have been doing lots of counting and working on being able to recall bonds mentally. Some of us have even been creating our own number bonds and also finding the inverse of the number sentence .

Creative Curriculum

In creative curriculum this week we have been continuing to look at the past and present. We listened to lots of transport sounds from the past and present and had a guess at which form of transport they belonged too. We then used musical instruments to make our own transport sounds.

Literacy

In literacy this week we looked at pictures of St Nicholas lane from the 1940’s and the present day using google maps. We compared the images and talked about the similarities and differences we could see. We then collected our ideas as a class and lots of us generated and wrote our own sentences about what we saw.

Please remember children in Reception will have their books changed every Tuesday.  Please continue to write in your child’s reading record each time they read at home. If you read with your child five times, please write in their record each time. This will earn them ticks on their reading card, which will eventually lead to certificates and prizes. All information on this is in the front of your child’s reading record book. Please ensure you child has their book bag EVERYDAY and please ensure no water bottles or snacks are put into the bags as we don’t want our precious books getting wet and ruined.

Red Nose Day

Today we celebrated Red Nose day as a school. We all enjoyed coming to school in something red and taking part in lots of different red nose day activities.

Have a lovely weekend.
