The Essex Teaching Awards

The Phoenix Primary School and Nursery is very proud to announce that our Headteacher, Miss Geary, has been nominated for an Essex Teaching Award. An award, which recognises and celebrates inspirational staff within Essex schools.

‘’Our wonderful Headteacher, Miss Kerry Geary, has been and continues to be nothing short of inspiring, supportive and forward thinking throughout this pandemic.

Miss Geary has ensured that children could attend school every day possible, including bank holidays, half terms and the Easter period.  She has had meals delivered to pupils homes where needed and provided additional transport to ensure children could come to school.  As soon as Government Guidelines allowed, Miss Geary ensured that the school doors were open to pupils in all year groups and reduced the size of bubbles to keep everyone as safe as possible.

Miss Geary has been commended by the CEO of the MAT for her outstanding leadership.  Due to her leadership being highly-competent and thorough, and her communication being both calm and compassionate, there continues to be overwhelming confidence and support for the school, from staff, families and the wider community.

It is clear that the education of all children and the welfare of the pupils, staff and the wider community have been, and continue to be, at the forefront of Miss Geary’s vision, where the school continues to move forward, even through this pandemic. Everyone at The Phoenix Primary School and Nursery, and in the local community, are lucky to have her. Thank you Miss Geary!
