Reception Blog ~ Thursday 28th March 2024
This week we have continued to explore a story which is based on a traditional tale – “Give us a smile, Cinderella!” which is a wonderful take on the original story with links to healthy eating, tooth cleanliness and how to look after our smiles!
Maths
In Maths this week we have been participating in Maths Assessments! We have been working hard to show our adults what we can remember and use our knowledge and problem-solving skills to find the answers. We have also been able to work on our general mathematic skills such as number formation, number recognition, ordering numbers and exploring shape.
Read, Write, Inc.
This week we have had phonics learning in our classrooms – this is so that the adults in our classes can see how far all of the children have come this term – especially if they have been taught by another member of staff! We are very proud of the progress that the children are making and have enjoyed working on key phonics / writing / reading skills this week.

More of us are ready to begin blending sounds into words. You can find out more information about this here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNyFikwNQTg
‘Jolly Phonics’ has some great songs that children can learn at home to support their phonics development: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvAYUvQUrGo

Food at Phoenix
The menus for school dinners are on the school website – please share these meals with your children as there have been some changes to the Spring term menu. The children are still working hard on developing their fine motor skills and controlling their knives and forks. We would love for this to be encouraged and continued at home please. 😊
Messages
We hope that you have a wonderful Easter break and we cannot wait to see you after the holidays on Monday 15th April! 😊
