What have we been doing this week in R2?

17th April 2015

Wow! We all had a really busy Easter holiday! This week we have been writing about what we got up to.

Mason – I went to Adventure Island and went on all the rides and I went to the skate park with my brother, Josh.

Harry R – I went to the zoo and I saw a little zebra. I went with mum.

Travis – I went to my daddy’s and played football on the Xbox.

We have also been learning about 3d shapes.

Harry H – I know that one of them looks like a triangle but its round and it’s called a cone.

Emma – A cylinder. It’s got round sides and circles on it.

Rebecca – The cube. It’s got square faces.

R2 have been watching the big tree outside the classroom very closely. Before the holidays the tree (we have called him Trevor) had no leaves and its branches were bare. We have noticed a change. It looks like some leaves are beginning to grow. We will continue to observe the tree and talk about any changes we notice over the coming weeks.

What have we been doing this week in R2?

20th March 2015

This week we learnt a little bit about St Patricks Day and looked at Ireland on the map. We found our school on the map too! After that we looked at lots of different maps. We then went and created our own maps and included features like train tracks, forests, houses, roads, beaches and rivers.

Caci - I put a volcano on mine.

Chase - I done a train track and I done the beach.

This week we have been busy learning how to add. We used different objects to create number sentences to find a total. We were very clever and used words like 'add', 'plus' and 'equals'. Some of us wrote our own number sentences.

Holly - We added numbers.

Jamil - We got all the dinosaurs together.

We also watched something very special this week. We watched the solar eclipse.

Connor - It's when the moon covers the sun.

Unfortunately it was very cloudy so we had to watch the eclipse on the website www.solareclipse2015.org.uk . It did get a little bit colder and a little bit darker.

Reading Books

R2 will have reading books changed each Tuesday. This will also be our library visit day and children will bring home their choice of a library book. Please ensure book bags are in school each and every day as we will be reading with each child throughout the week.

P.E Days

R2 have P.E on Wednesdays. Please ensure that your child has their P.E kit at school on these days. Hair should be tied up and earrings MUST be removed on these days. Your child will not be able to join in with P.E if they have earrings in.

Reading Mornings

Every Wednesday parents/carers are invited to come and share a book with their child. The session is 8.45-9am. Parents/carers can complete 'Wow' sheets to tell us about something their child has done to make them say 'wow'!

Focus Friday!

The EYFS team would like to thank all who attended our Focus Friday sessions that have taken place throughout the year. We had lots of fun and we hope you did too! Focus Fridays are held once half-termly throughout the school year and will concentrate on one area of development. Our next session is Friday 27th March. We hope you can make it!
