4W have P.E on Mondays. Please ensure that your child has their P.E kit at school on this day. Hair should be tied up and earrings MUST be removed on these days. Your child will not be able to join in with P.E if they have earrings in.
Class Blog ~ 29th January 2016
In English we have been inspired by Tim Peake and his trip to the International Space Station, so we have been imagining what it would be like to travel to space. We used our ideas to write a story about our adventures and this week focused on using dialogue to make it more interesting. We have all become very skilled in using speech punctuation in our writing.
In Maths we have been using formal methods of multiplication. We are experts on using the grid method now and some of us are even able to use a column method to solve multiplication problems using quite big numbers.
We are enjoying our topic on Ancient Egypt and have found out more about their lives and the country they lived in. We have used our research skills to find out about Egyptian farming methods and were interested to find out about the equipment they used to raise water, called a shaduf. Next week we’re going to use what we have found out about levers and see if we can make a model shaduf.
In IT we are creating our own ‘Alien Invasion’ movie and can’t wait to get started on making the models, props and backdrops we will need. Don’t forget to bring in cardboard, cereal boxes, and anything else you think might be useful to make the models.
Remember to keep reading at home and learn any spellings you have been given.
