Assessments:
As you are aware throughout the school year, it is essential that the children complete assessments. This informs us of the child's current progress and helps to inform future planning and teaching. Despite the current situation this does still need to take place.
Therefore, this week we will be setting the children a reading, writing and maths assessment and we are asking for your support in this. It is essential that although you still encourage your child to complete the work, that they do carry it out independently. Wherever possible, your child will need a quiet place to concentrate.
Maths - you can read the questions but please allow your child to select the strategies they wish to use.
When these have been completed - please upload and email photos of the completed work for your child's class teacher to mark and assess.

History: imagine that you have accompanied your family on a first journey to Merrivale, to attend an important ceremony. You have come from a community many days of walking away. What do you think would have impressed and amazed them most about Merrivale? Remember that large gatherings of people would have been rare and that most people would have lived in small communities, with little contact with people beyond those in your own settlement. What would the ceremony have been – a burial of someone important, celebrating a birth or watching the Sun rise on midsummer day, or the alignment of the stars on midwinter night? If postcards had been available at Merrivale, what would they have written home to friends and family about? Maybe what the place was like, their experiences of the ceremonies they were attending and the impact of everything on them.
