Spellings and Homework
Spellings are set each Friday and tested the following Friday. The children will have between 5 and 6 spellings to learn weekly. Please help your children by practising at home. Homework is set on Fridays and due in the following Friday. Children are awarded housepoints for completing their homework and handing it in on time. Please note that children who continually forget to hand in homework will be required to complete it in their break time.
The children will be given an appropriate school reading book and will also be invited to choose a book from the school library. Please ensure book bags containing reading books AND reading records are in school each and every day as we will be reading with each child throughout the week. The expectation is that an adult or older child reads with your child AT LEAST 3 times a week.
Adults are kindly requested to note the book title and pages read and include an initial in Reading Record books.
Stars are awarded each time a child reads at home and certificates (Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum) are awarded in assembly to those children who complete their sticker charts.
Please ensure that your child has their P.E kit at school at all times as the timetable for PE changes each week. Hair should be tied up and earrings MUST be removed on these days.
We kindly request that parents/carers check each half term as to whether trainers/plimsolls still fit.
Tuesday 11th July 2017
We have been blessed with exceptionally hot weather this week. PLEASE make sure that your child has a labelled water bottle to leave in class. They will be able to fill it up at break and lunchtime. Please note that we no longer have any plastic cups for the children to use.
If you are not able to send in a water bottle, please send in a plastic cup which we can label instead.
Please do send in hats and suncream for your children. Don’t forget to name everything!
Mrs Henson-Webb’s Maths group have been going back over dividing and multiplying multiples of 10.
“When we filled in the blanks we had to use the inverse. We got a bit stuck on it and had to remember to use the Steps to Success.” Charlie
In English this week, we have learning how to write a playscript.
“We have been re-writing a traditional tale but changing it to have a twist. Our twist was that when Little Red Riding Hood went into the forest, she was met by a pig instead of a wolf” Hanna
“In our tale, the twist was that it was the Three Little Wolves and the Big Bad Pig.” Alexis
“I wrote ‘Not by the hair of my hairy chest…’ and then ‘Not by the hair of my hairy legs…’ “ Charlie.
We have had lots of fun in Year 3. It has been an absolute pleasure teaching this class and I am going to miss everyone enormously.
Thank-you for being such a wonderful class and all the very best to you in Year 4!
