Welcome Message

In the links above you will find out all about the exciting learning that is yet to come this half term! Please have a browse.

Below you will find important information regarding your child's PE time slot and information on reading.

At the bottom of the page you will find the children's class blog- A weekly update of all the exciting things that happen within Year 3! Enjoy!

Reading Books

Every child in Year 3 will have a reading book and we encourage them to read with an adult at home. We will visit the library weekly and children will bring home their choice of a library book. Please ensure that their reading books and reading records are in school each and every day as we will be reading with each child throughout the week. Every time a child reads with an adult, they will receive a stamp on their reading chart, which will earn them certificates and book prizes.

P.E Days

Year 3 will have PE once a week, however, the day may change. Please ensure that your child has their P.E kit at school every day. Hair should be tied up and earrings MUST be removed on these days. Your child will not be able to join in with P.E if they have earrings in.

The parent's guide for Mirodo is a useful document to help answer any questions you may have.

Class Blog 17.6.21

This week has been Maths week, so we have completed some fun Maths activities. We tried to solve some clues as a group to work out who had stolen the sword. It was tricky but most of us worked it out in the end. We have also been looking at right, acute and obtuse angle.

Also in Maths, we have been looking at angles and turns. We directed each other around the classroom using the mathematical language we had learnt. We have also been looking at right, acute and obtuse angle.

In English this week, we watched a clip of ‘The Iron Giant’ and compared it to ‘The Iron Man’ written by Ted Hughes. We then wrote our own extracts using his style of writing. This included long and short sentences and the use of onomatopoeia!

In Science, we are now learning about plants. We reminded ourselves of the different parts of the plant and their important jobs.

As our new Geography topic is Earthquakes and Volcanoes, we have been looking at the earthquake in Christchurch which is in New Zealand. We wrote a diary entry as someone who arrived on holiday to see the beautiful city destroyed.

In Art, we sketched a picture of Iron man using charcoal! Mrs Hayward was very proud of our efforts.
