Below you will find important information regarding your child's PE time slot and information on reading and homework.
At the bottom of the page you will find the children's class blog- a weekly update of all the exciting things that happen within year 2! Enjoy!
Year 2 will have the opportunity to change their own reading books daily. We will visit the library weekly, usually on a Thursday. Children will bring home their choice of a library book. Please ensure book bags are in school each and every day as we will be reading with each child throughout the week.
Your child will receive English and Maths homework every Friday, and it is due back in school on Wednesdays. Children will receive a house point for every piece of homework that they return to school. Please encourage your child to complete their homework, and support them if necessary. If necessary children can complete their homework or practise their spellings in homework club on Wednesday and Thursday at play time. They will be given words to learn to spell on a Friday, and will be tested in school on the following Friday. If your child does not bring their homework home, please see their teacher as soon as possible as the books are used for a lesson every Friday.
We will have P.E weekly, sometimes on Tuesday, and sometimes on a Friday morning, but this is subject to change, so please ensure that your child has their P.E kit at school every day. For health and safety reasons hair should be tied up and earrings MUST be removed for P.E. Your child will not be able to join in with P.E if they have earrings in.
Thursday 5th March 2020
The children thoroughly enjoyed World Book Day and they had the opportunity to dress up as their favourite characters. It was lovely to see the children share their favourite stories.
KH – ‘In Maths we looked at the time and we had to count how long it was in-between each time.’
TV – ‘In Science we labelled a flower and wrote about what each part does.’
HF – ‘In Computing we looked at a website about Greta Thunberg. She is 16 years old.’
KM – ‘A author visited our school and read on of his books that he wrote.’
AW- ‘The author showed us how he made all the pictures. He even used a picture that his daughter drew.’
SS –‘In Art we used Duplo brick to create prints. We painted the different seasons on a tree. We mixed the colours to make a Spring picture.’
JVL- ‘In Maths we told the time and we used the clocks to help us.’
NL – ‘In Geography we looked at the different seasons and what happens in each one.’
OS – ‘In English we read Greta’s book about the giants that destroyed the forest. Greta taught them to look after the forest so the animals had somewhere to live.’
