Welcome Message

Below you will find important information regarding your child's PE time slot and information on reading and homework.

At the bottom of the page you will find the children's class blog- a weekly update of all the exciting things that happen within year 2! Enjoy!

Reading Books

Year 2 will have the opportunity to change their own reading books daily. We will visit the library weekly, usually on a Thursday.  Children will bring home their choice of a library book. Please ensure book bags are in school each and every day as we will be reading with each child throughout the week.

Your child will receive English and Maths homework every Friday, and it is due back in school on Wednesdays. Children will receive a house point for every piece of homework that they return to school. Please encourage your child to complete their homework, and support them if necessary. If necessary children can complete their homework or practise their spellings in homework club on Wednesday and Thursday at play time. They will be given words to learn to spell on a Friday, and will be tested in school on the following Friday. If your child does not bring their homework home, please see their teacher as soon as possible as the books are used for a lesson every Friday.

P.E Days

We will have P.E weekly, sometimes on Tuesday, and sometimes on a Friday morning, but this is subject to change, so please ensure that your child has their P.E kit at school every day. For health and safety reasons hair should be tied up and earrings MUST be removed for P.E. Your child will not be able to join in with P.E if they have earrings in.

2C Class Blog 28th November 2019

This week we have been practising for our KS1 Christmas Production. All of the children have been working hard to learn their lines and the songs. We look forward to seeing the children perform in front of their families.

In English, we have been looking at non chronological reports. A non chronological report does not have to be in order, as it has subheadings to help you find the information quickly.

In Maths, we have been continuing to practice multiplication methods. We have moved on from using arrays to practising our 2x, 5x and 10x tables using our fingers and from memory. We have been working our socks off and Miss Holman has been very proud of us!

In Geography, we learned about the invisible equator line and named countries which were in the Northern and Southern hemisphere. We also discussed where in the world the UK and Brunei are.

"I have been learning my lines for the xmas production as I am a narrator" DO.

"In English we have been learning about pandas and penguins. We are going to use what we have learnt in our writing" LG

"In maths we have been doing lots of work on our times tables. We have been recalling our 2, 5 and 10 times tables" NB.

"In science we have been labelling parts of a scooter and discussing how we use forces to make it move. AS
