At the bottom of the page you will find the children's class blog- A fortnightly update of all the exciting things that happen within 1R! Enjoy!


Reading Books

1R will have reading books changed daily. We will visit the library weekly and children will bring home their choice of a library book. Please ensure book bags are in school each and every day as we will be reading with each child throughout the week.


P.E Days

1R have P.E weekly and the day will be confirmed with a sign on the door.  Please ensure that your child has their P.E kit at school on this day. Hair should be tied up and earrings MUST be removed on these days. Your child will not be able to join in with P.E if they have earrings in.

Class Blog




We have been exploring capacity. Capacity means how much something can hold.

‘We have used the words full, empty, half full, half empty, nearly empty and nearly full.’ L.W

We have been weighing in grams

‘We used balancing scales to see how much weights we would have to put on the other side to make the scales balance an apple.’

We used scales with a dial to weigh things in our classroom the scales went up in 5g’ D.R

‘To practise all of the things we have been learning in maths we made a fruit punch that we got to drink after.’ A-R.F

‘We had to use a ruler to measure 5cm of cucumber.’ T.P

‘We used scales with a dial to measure 70g of apple, 40g of pineapple and 50g of satsumas.’ R.F

‘We added 500ml of tropical juice and 500ml of peach and apricot juice’ D.R

School Trip

‘For our school trip we went to Tropical Wings.’ U.D

‘I loved seeing the meerkats!’ L.W

‘We really enjoyed seeing the butterflies, they were orange, blue and pink.’ Z.A, J.D

The big, orange fish were great to see.’ J.H

In RWInc. We have been learning the ‘ay’ sound we spelt ‘may, play, say and day’ R.F

In English we have been writing our own stories, ‘in my story the characters are a monster, a boy and a dog!’ C.S


Adventure Island


Some of us were lucky to go to Adventure Island in Southend!
