We are having a brilliant Arts and Science Week!
In Art this week, we took part in a dance workshop with Miss Hayward.
We based our art work on a space theme and used a sliding mechanism to make a sliding picture. We were inspired by the work of Peter Thorpe to make space collages and chalk rocket pictures!
For Science week, we have explored which material was the best to make a boat! We decided on plastic as it is strong and waterproof. We think paper is the worst material as it is weak and soggy. Metal was not good either as it was too heavy and sank!
We also explored making bridges and rockets.
In English this week we have continued looking at 'Whatever Next' by Jill Murphy. We changed elements of the story to make our own version! In the original version, Baby Bear wanted to explore the moon. In our new story, Baby Bear wanted to visit the ocean. In the old version, Baby Bear travelled by rocket up the chimney. In our version, he flushed himself down the toilet in a boat and landed in the ocean. In Jill Murphy's version, Baby Bear met an owl but in our version he met a dolphin.
However, both stories ended with Mummy Bear asked whatever next to Baby Bear's adventures!
In Maths this week we have been looking at turns and positions. A whole turn, ends back at the same place moving the whole way around the circle. A half turn, is a 2- point turn, if you face the front, you then end up facing the back. A quarter turn turns 4 points around a circle. We also looked at forwards, backwards, left and right!
