Welcome Message

Change over Tuesday

Reception reading books will be changed every Tuesday. Please ensure your child has their book bag, reading book(s) and reading record. Please bring these items every day as your child will regularly read with an adult in school.

Please ensure your child has full kit in school throughout the half-term. Kits will be sent home each holiday for washing. Hair should be tied up and earrings must be removed on these days. If children are wearing earrings they will not be allowed to join in with P.E lessons. P.E days may change from week to week. You will be informed on a weekly basis so please look out for messages on our classroom door.

Welcome Wednesday

Every Wednesday parents/carers are invited into classrooms from 8:45-9:00 am to share a book with their child. We hope you can make it!

The last Wednesday of each half term is an extended ‘Welcome Wednesday’! Parents/carers are invited into school to spend some time with their child exploring the activities that take place in Reception. The session will take place from 9:00-10:00 a.m. and each session will have a different curriculum focus. More information will be given nearer the time. Please look out for the letter inviting you to join us!

Class Blog

This week we have begun to look at the story ‘What the Ladybird Heard’. We have started to think about where the story is set and describing the key features of the farm. We have also been looking at the characters of Lanky Len and Hefty Hugh and how we can describe them!

In maths we have been looking at halving a set amount of objects. We learnt that ‘half’ means two people or groups get the exact same amount and it must be the same to be fair.  We practiced this skill with dots on a ladybird and using real life objects to share with our friends.

R3 had our class assembly on Friday, with our own made up play ‘We’re Going On A Book Hunt’. All of the children worked hard to learn the story and the songs, well done everybody!

As the weather gets warmer, please ensure your child has sun-cream applied and brings in a sun hat and water bottle. Thank you.
