Welcome Message

Change over Tuesday

Reception reading books will be changed every Tuesday. Please ensure your child has their book bag, reading book(s) and reading record. Please bring these items every day as your child will regularly read with an adult in school.

Please ensure your child has full kit in school throughout the half-term. Kits will be sent home each holiday for washing. Hair should be tied up and earrings must be removed on these days. If children are wearing earrings they will not be allowed to join in with P.E lessons. P.E days may change from week to week. You will be informed on a weekly basis so please look out for messages on our classroom door.

Welcome Wednesday

Every Wednesday parents/carers are invited into classrooms from 8:45-9:00 am to share a book with their child. We hope you can make it!

The last Wednesday of each half term is an extended ‘Welcome Wednesday’! Parents/carers are invited into school to spend some time with their child exploring the activities that take place in Reception. The session will take place from 9:00-10:00 a.m. and each session will have a different curriculum focus. More information will be given nearer the time. Please look out for the letter inviting you to join us!

Class Blog
12th October 2018

This week we have been reading ‘Room on the Broom’. The animals made friends with the witch and the bad dragon chased the witch, trying to eat her! We looked at the different places the witch travelled in the story and the obstacles she faced, then created our own obstacle course in the garden! We are very good at reciting the story with our actions!

In maths we have been continuing to count accurately, looking at ingredients in a witch’s potion to see how many ingredients she needs. We have also begun to look at ‘adding’ using the plus and equals signs to add together two small groups of objects. We are so clever!

We have been learning to read by blending the letter sounds that we know, and practicing writing CVC words during Read Write Inc.

R3 have enjoyed exploring with the tap a shape, pract6icing how to safely use scissors to cut out and been practicing our names- what a busy week in R3!
