Reception reading books will be changed every Tuesday. Please ensure you child has their book bag, reading books and reading record. Please bring these items every day as your child will regularly read with an adult in school.
*** Please note that books will be given out in due course. ***
Please ensure your child has full kit in school throughout the half term. Kits will be sent home each holiday for washing. Hair should be tied up and earrings must be removed on these days. If children are wearing earrings they will not be allowed to join in with PE lessons. PE days may change from week to week. You will be informed on a weekly basis so please look out for messages on our classroom door.
Every Wednesday parents/carers are invited into classrooms from 8:45-9:00 am to share a book with their child. We hope you can make it!
The last Friday of each half term is Focus Friday! Parents/carers are invited into school to spend some time with their child exploring the activities that take place in Reception. The session will take place from 9:00-10:00 a.m in the school hall. The session will have a different curriculum focus each time. More information will be given nearer the time.

We have continued our focus book on the ‘Owl Babies’. The children are enjoying the familiarity of the story so much so, that they are all taking part in becoming authors and illustrators of their very own R1 Owl Baby story book! We have continued to find out many ‘owl facts’ and looking at other nocturnal animals that may also live in the woods. In PE the children have been practicing movements of different woodland animals ‘swooping’ like an owl, ‘tiptoeing’ like a mouse ‘slithering’ like a snake and ‘flapping’ like a bat.
In Magic Maths we have been looking at subtraction. We have discussed using language associated with subtraction; taking away, less than and looking at how when we take away our number gets smaller. The children have enjoyed singing many familiar songs associated with taking away; ’10 fat sausages’, ‘5 little speckled frogs’ and ‘5 currant buns’!
Thank you to those parents/carers who continue to help their child complete their homework. A new piece of homework is handed out each Friday so make sure your child’s book bag is in school for this. Thank you.
