| During the course of each Academic
Year the children receive a balance of content across the Primary
Curriculum. The school is currently reviewing the content of
the curriculum by drawing links with subjects in order to imbed
concepts, learning and ideas. The school has worked hard to
use dance in the curriculum to teach other non core subjects.
The extensive curriculum that we offer the children contains
within it the requirements of the National Curriculum in Mathematics,
English, Science, Technology, History, Geography, Music, Art,
Religious Education and Physical Education. |

The Core Subjects of the National Curriculum, English, Maths and
Science, are given particular significance and emphasis throughout
the School with the Literacy Hour and Numeracy Lessons being taught
each day.
The School has two classes in each year group. This
enables us to keep class sizes at acceptable levels. A Teaching
Assistant supports each class in the morning and then works with
SEN children and target groups in the afternoon.
A copy of our Whole School Curriculum Plan from aged
4 to 11 year olds is available in the entrance lobby of the school.
Is your child between 2years 9 months and 4 years of age?
We currently have places available within our Nursery. Please call
the school for more information or why not come and visit us to
see how great the Nursery is.
We offer a variety of clubs at lunch times and after school.
These include:
Breakfast club
Hockey
Football both boys and girls
Creative workshop,
and many others throughout the year.

Work is planned weekly as well as daily and account
is taken of pupils differing abilities. The more able child's curriculum
is extended. Teaching Assistants specifically work with SEN children
in the afternoons and help children address their individual targets.
We will consult you if there is any cause for concern about your
child's progress. You will be actively involved in the process to
ensure your child is given the appropriate learning support. This
may include a more structured learning programme. Their particular
needs will be assessed and programmes put into place in consultation
with you, class teachers and the special needs coordinator
We recognise that Parents have the right to withdraw
children from all or part of Religious Education. Separate learning
activities are provided within the classroom. If you request that
your child is withdrawn from assemblies it is your responsibility
to provide alternative instruction.
It is recognised that children all learn in different
ways and all have different abilities and needs. A variety of teaching
methods and styles are used to cater for this. The use of drama,
art, English, story and visits are used to enable all children to
learn.
Literacy and numeracy homework is set for all children
in the school. The homework is always related to what is being taught
in class that week
Sex Education is regarded as an integral part of the
School Curriculum. It is approached in a discreet and sensitive manner
throughout the Year groups. The school nurse delivers a programme
to year six children to which you are asked to give your consent.
Year 6 currently have the opportunities to attend
a 4 days residential to West Runton Norfolk. They are able to try
new challenges and work new technologies. We think it is important
that the children have the opportunity of making an educational
visit in order to gain first-hand experience. If such an educational
visit is organised, it will form a vital part of work in school
surrounding that study. In order to finance such a visit, we are
dependent on parents' voluntary contributions towards the cost.
Physical Education is one of the Core subjects of
the National Curriculum. All children need to take part in the subject.
Please provide your children with the following clothing for PE
and games.
T-shirt and shorts and thin soled shoes.
A suitable change of clothing for outdoor wear.
Outdoor type training shoes.
A sweatshirt or similar top for the colder weather.
For safety reasons we ask that the children DO NOT
wear jewellery in school. They will be asked to remove any items
during P. E. lessons. The only exceptions being small earring studs.
Although we will take suitable precautions we cannot accept responsibility
for the loss of jewellery or watches.
If children are to be excused P. E./Games they MUST
have a written note from you explaining the nature of the illness.
Each Thursday morning we take 80 children from Years
4 & 5 to Gloucester Park Pool for swimming lessons conducted
by Direct Swimming Services staff. A voluntary contribution of £1.50
each session is requested in order to be able to fund the activity.
