Reading Books

Children in year 6 are expected to read at home each day, either to a family member or independently.  Please ensure reading records are brought to school daily and signed when your child has read.  We are then able to write in them when they read with adults in school.  As a result of this, they will earn their Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum reading certificates, plus a free book.

Year 6 also participate in Reading Challenge and answer quizzes on each book they read.  The challenge for each child is to read 1 million words before the end of the school year, in order to win themselves free pizza.

6M are reading lots in school, please continue to read with them at home to help them reach their target!

P.E Days

6M will have weekly P.E. although sometimes the day it is on may change.  Therefore please ensure that your child has their P.E kit at school every day. Your child will need a white T-shirt, black shorts and suitable footwear (trainers/plimsolls).  In the winter months your child can wear black tracksuit bottoms and a jumper.  Hair should be tied up and earrings MUST be removed. Your child will not be able to join in with P.E if they have earrings in.

Class Blog

Tuesday 26th June 2018

Most children have been learning their lines as well as the songs and are putting in a great effort for the rehearsals of our play 'Ye-Ha!'. Keep it up!

Information will be sent home this week regarding any clothes for costumes that your child will need. These will be kept simple.

The children are also continuing transition visits to their new schools.

Swimming lessons are still continuing at Basildon Sporting Village - we now only have four lessons left these are on:

Friday 29th June

Monday 2nd July

Wednesday 4th July

Friday 6th July

The whole of year 6 have been putting in a great effort with each lesson. It would be good to see everyone remember their kits each time so that each child can benefit from learning and improving upon this vital life skill.

Swimming hats are able to be purchased from the school office at a cost of £3 (to be paid online).

Next week many year 6 children are taking part in District Sports along with other year groups too. Go Team Phoenix!
