Welcome Page

Welcome to the class page for 4S. Please take time to look around the school’s website for key information. Also, make sure that you visit this page as often as possible as it is here that you will be able to view what your child is doing in school each week and every term via the Class Blog that appears below.

Below you will also find important information about your child’s PE slot as well as advice about reading at home.

4S will have PE weekly and it is therefore essential that your child has their PE in school everyday. It is also important that each item of PE kit is clearly labelled with your child’s name in case things get lost.

Reading at Home

Reading at home is essential for your child to make the progress necessary with their school work. Your child will have a Reading Record Book that they bring home each night. If they read to you or another adult, or to themselves, please sign the Record Book to say this has happened. They will then get credits at school towards a range of reading certificates that they will receive in assembly.

Class Blog 20th June 2019

In maths this week we have still been looking at money but focusing on rounding and how we would pay for items.

In my maths group we have started to look at statistics and read a range of graphs to get information.

English this week has been fun because we have been writing our own narrative poems. We have based them on the story of Little Red Riding Hood but changed the setting and characters.

A narrative poem tells a story and can rhyme but doesn't have to. We have been trying to include similes, metaphors and amazing adjectives.

In science we did another fun experiment making our own sherbet! We had to mix icing sugar, citric acid and bicarbonate of soda. Each group added more of one ingredient to see which was the best sherbet.

During geography we have been looking at the worlds climate and rainfall and writing our own scripts for a weather report that we will perform.

On Wednesday we had a well-being day. It was really enjoyable as we got to do lots of fun activities and learn about keeping our bodies and minds healthy. I really enjoyed doing the relaxation session.
