Welcome to the web page for 4R. Please take time to look around the school’s website for key information. Also, make sure that you visit this page as often as possible as it is here that you will be able to view what your child is doing in school each week and every term via the Class Blog that appears below.
Below you will also find important information about your child’s PE slot as well as advice about reading at home.
PE for 4R is scheduled for each Tuesday afternoon and it is therefore essential that your child has their PE in school on this occasion. It is also important that each item of PE kit is clearly labelled with your child’s name in case things get lost.
Reading at Home
Reading at home is essential for your child to make the progress necessary with their school work. Your child will have a Reading Record Book that they bring home each night. If they read to you or another adult, or to themselves, please sign the Record Book to say this has happened. They will then get credits at school towards a range of reading certificates that they will receive in assembly.

In English, we have used Roald Dahl’s book, called ‘The Witches’, as our inspiration for writing. In both classes, we had fun writing a job application to be the local witch in town. We look forward to other genres of writing linked to this theme.
Time has been the focus of our Maths lessons; converting analogue to digital as well as word problems associated with this. We have been revising our formal addition and subtraction methods, using decimals. This needs to be further revised at home to consolidate.
In our Creative Curriculum lessons, we have explored the notion of sustainability, should honey bees become extinct. We wrote about ways they are in danger and suggested ways in which they could be saved. We are now looking at how to keep the human race healthier.
In Science, we have started to investigate how different liquids affect tooth decay. We have used eggs (the shell is similar in consistency to our tooth enamel) and submerged them in different liquids. We have observed the results and the energy and isotonic drinks have caused the egg to decay and break.
