Below you will find important information regarding your child's PE time slot and information on reading and homework.
At the bottom of the page you will find the children's class blog- a fortnightly update of all the exciting things that happen within 2KB! Enjoy!
2KB will have the opportunity to change their reading books weekly. We will visit the library weekly and children will bring home their choice of a library book. Please ensure book bags are in school each and every day as we will be reading with each child throughout the week.
2KB will receive English and Maths homework every Friday, and it is due back in school on Wednesdays. Children will receive a house point for every piece of homework that they return to school. Please encourage your child to complete their homework, and support them if necessary. They will be given words to learn to spell on a Friday, and will be tested in school on the following Friday. If your child does not bring their homework home, please see their teacher as soon as possible.
2KB have P.E weekly, usually on a Friday, but this is subject to change, so please ensure that your child has their P.E kit at school every day. For health and safety reasons hair should be tied up and earrings MUST be removed for P.E. Your child will not be able to join in with P.E if they have earrings in.
Class Blog - 11th July 2019
The children have had a busy week . In maths we have continued looking at measurement and measuring in varying measurements. Others focused on measuring liquids in millilitres and litres. KO - I really enjoyed looking at the thermometres. We looked at how the scale goes up and using our times tables can help us to count in 2's, 5's and 10's.
In English we were read the story or the Enormous Crocodile. The children loved using time words to retell the story and we even managed to create a wanted poster describing some of the characters in the story applying the time words. JD - I liked how we could choose our own characters and I made it funny!
In Science we looked at a balanced diet and the 5 different food groups - carbohydrates, fruit and vegetable, protein, dairy and fats. The children created their own menu, starter, main and dessert thinking about the food pyramid and how much of watch food group we should have! RS - I chose a salad for a starter because it has fruit and veg which give us vitamins and minerals. KO - I chose spaghetti bolognaise because it has carbohydrates and protein. Protein helps us heal and sleep.
We hope you all have a fab weekend. Please try and read at home and practice those times tables and division facts as much as poss. Remember every time a child moves up the times table ladder they get a prize from Mrs Box'all of surprises!
